The Society of Northern Alberta Print-Artists are indeed hosting a competitive international exhibition - the Edmonton Print International 2008. (in September)

Hi:

I don't work in collograph specifically, yet, but just finished a great workshop on collograph with Victoria Edgar at Ground Zero in Victoria this summer. If you have questions, I'd be glad to answer...or you could come for a visit to Pender Island, and we can play...

Welcome to the printmaking forum Margaret! No worries about dealing with computers; thanks for taking the time to post your question.

This particular thread is a general information thread, which is why it's posted at the very beginning of the Printmaking forum (or "stuck" there). Not everyone notices when it changes, because it's always near the top. Thankfully, Bev was paying attention, so thanks very much Bev for your response!!

You didn't do the wrong thing, and we're always really happy to have people participate on the forum.

In the future, if you wish to ask a question, please feel free to click on the "New Thread" button (near the top of the forum when you're looking at all of the topics of conversation) to start a new topic of conversation. That way, it pops to the top of the "active" thread list, and everyone will jump in on the conversation a lot faster!

Again, welcome to the forum, and good luck finding someone to help with Collographs!

Hello and welcome Margaret

though I have created a few collographs it is not something I focus on mainly in printmaking. Not sure exactly what kind of questions you may have about this technique, but as Amie (Ploverwing) mentioned if you post your questions in a new thread I am sure you would get a few responses.

I was just made aware of this organization for monotype/monoprint artists only. They are located in Sharon, Massachusetts, US. It is open to all mono printmakers. They have a web gallery for all members to show some of their work plus exhibitions and juried shows. lj

Re: Print Galleries, Print Studios, Print-specific sales venues

I made an attempt to collate this kind of information, and have this as a result:

http://www.squidoo.com/printstudio

I keep looking to see if anyone comes up with new stuff on this thread, and I do add information that I come across otherwise, but if you know of something that's not on there, especially in South America, Africa, Asia and European countries (countries in the UK are pretty well represented, and US is definitely well represented), I'd be delighted to find out.

Cheers!
Amie

There is a print specific gallery in the denver area called Ink Lounge Gallery. They are having an international exhibit sponsered by CO Univ. Student print organization, but looks like they have space for one-man shows and group shows in the future.

Re: Print Galleries, Print Studios, Print-specific sales venues

What a great collection of research, thanks everyone! I first took printmaking classes at Dundarave Printshop when I lived in Vancouver about 12-14 years ago, and really loved my instructor - a most patient woman! I don't know anything about their membership requirements, but I know that they and Malasapina got an awful lot of traffic because of their location on Granville Island.

I'm familiar with St. Michael's Printshop because I'm from St. John's - Newfoundland has a wonderful tradition of printmaking. There is some really great work going on there, which I intend to investigate further on my next trip home!

I'm looking for print studios in the Western NY or southern Ontario region. Can't afford to outfit my own studio just yet, so I'm looking for a place to print. I did the Open Studio for Experienced Printmakers at NSCAD when I lived in Halifax a number of years ago, and it was perfect for balancing my full-time job and part-time printing habit. Looking for something similar in this neck of the woods.

Ha ha! Well, you're very welcome, Dedo, and welcome to the Printmaking Forum. I'm pleased you've found that squidoo resource useful, because that's exactly why I did it, so I'm so very happy to hear all my efforts towards it and my other lenses have produced one happy camper, at the very least!

Hi Greengal , I just saw your post, there is an Open Studio at The Print Studio
(905) 524-5084
173 James St N
Hamilton, ON L8R2K9
I don't know where you are coming from, but it might be a bit closer than Toronto for you. They ask to see your portfolio, then it is quite reasonable to buy time, and they have state of the art presses, all print media.
