Re: Weeders' Chatroom!
Great news Maureen, yes medication can play havoc
Mike , we still have little snow, but it has been -30 here and colder with wind chills, so it has been the treadmill for a couple wks, maybe outside next week.
Christine, i was thinking gesso too, wow handmade paper is ambitious, i like to buy my handmade paper LOL
Got the preparations all one for Christmas, not too much planning as it is a small family that both of us have, spend more time lunching with friends
Have a potluck with my sketching group and another with our old ball team
Jut laying low mostly till it warms up
Keep warm and safe, friends

Re: Weeders' Chatroom!
Christine, what kind of paper are you using? Watercolour paper is already sized but I know that w/c painters often add gum arabic to help clarity ..... it should be with w/c mediums at the shop.
You can also buy apperture cards ready to take the painted insert ... no need for stiffening the paper!
Have you thought about printing the cards from your designs/paintings? Buy cards, print them (including your details on thd back) , done!
Mike, if we lived nearer I could have lent you a wheelchair .... DH has no need of it now!

Re: Weeders' Chatroom!
I was just recycling old bills and such. The process is quite simple and I was interested in the result as I left some quite big pieces in and you could still see the print and colour of the original paper. I might still play with it a bit because it costs nothing but time but I dont think I will be doing anything with it for the open studios.
I did get a heap of cards printed through vista print a few years ago and they were very inexpensive and popular. I sold them all over time so I will do that again.
Here is a photo of the paper. I can write on it but it is very fragile and wont take water

Re: Weeders' Chatroom!
As Connie said, I wish you a healthy and creative 2017.
I do not spend too much time with facebook, but I spend too much time with internet, looking at videos painting, looking at pics... and I spend time with learning how to paint portraiture in oil! That is the good new for me: I go to a classroom to learn, and I am so happy!
But , in order to improve my paintings, I need to do several at the beginning, and I do not come here with the weeders ... I apologize...
I do not have a very good health and I cannot work a long time in a day, but my wishes for 2017 are to come with you and participate ...
I have a lot of photos that I can share. I hope I can give some of them to the forum soon.
All my best wishes for the next year!

Re: Weeders' Chatroom!
Hi Maryse - lovely to 'see' you here and certainly hope you can visit often!
I think the best we can wish you is for Good Health - in fact, I wish that for us all ........ with that, we can then cope with most things!
I also hope for more time free for painting - or drawing - just to be creative!
Happy New Year Weeders!

Re: Weeders' Chatroom!
Happy New Year to all my friends here! So glad to see so many of you. Seems many of us had our own challenges in 2016. I had cataract surgeries on both eyes (September and October)and an added surgery on one for astigmatism (sp?).
Anyway, eyes are doing much better and will get back to painting after this week - I should finally be getting my new prescription glasses. Still working and hoping for a better year. Maybe this year I will get my thumbs fixed (joint replacement)! I am determined to keep working and to get back to painting. I can say that I have a new appreciation for things that have become harder to accomplish and therefore a better (more positive) outlook. I know that painting and doing Tai Chi go a long way in keeping me from getting depressed/negative.
My very best wishes to all of you for good health and much happiness in the New Year!

Re: Weeders' Chatroom!
Happy New Year Barbara - goo d to have you back!
Glad the eye surgery was good - but thumb replacement? Jeepers! Do hope it is successful too and you're soon doing the WDEs again
After 2016, how true your sig. line is!
