First attempt at a bird c&c

Not drawn an animal for about 20 years, so happy with how this turned out. Using Derwent coloursoft pencils. One thing I've worked out in the last few days is I need to minimise using graphite pencils too much as this gets picked up in the colours, so i did a rough outline using a hard pencil and the rest using the colours only.

Really good job on this. Coloured pencil is translucent so graphite does show through. The lighter the graphite drawing the better. You are on the right track.

Thanks for the comments. It was a photo we got at a local zoo and he just seemed to pop out and pose for it!
