Yes I've seen this drawing on a toned paper technique & followed it with interest here.
After thought I've come to the conclusion that a dark line on a light coloured paper IS
pen & ink ! - as I personally understand it's strengths, where the line rules supreme & what it can do in terms of a very direct expression of the artists feelings.
I freely admit to being a purist in my P&I taste , but I can't help feeling that work on toned paper somewhat deserts the real spirit & power of P&I drawing.

in such work priorities are suddenly transformed to different aims using different techniques.
It's not that I can't appreciate it , I certainly can - but then I appreciate water colours & oils etc. etc. but it is not quite a pen line drawing.
Something is lost for me , for others I'm sure they will feel it is gained
