Getting close to done. I still have got to do the pear, some of the orange, and finishing up the cloth... The apple was a lot of fun to get done.

Four days to go 'til posting day. No problem this time around.

Re: DIFFERENT STROKES, A Forum Project:November '08

I don't think I can do this one. I can't figure out what I am looking at in the apple. Half of the reflections make sense to me...and half don't no matter how hard I try to figure out what I am looking at. I've tried zooming in and changing contrast and about everything I can think of. I love the photo...but I guess unless I get a brainstorm, I am out on this one Maureen. Sorry.

Maureen - awww ... can't you put the POW back in?

Cyndi - please don't get discouraged. No need to replicate the photo as-is. Remember this is called "Different Strokes"? Remember the subway reference photo? That inspired many different interpretations, all lovely.

Cyndi, the apple has been giving me fits too! But we've still got a little time left before reveal day....and its not carved in stone that it HAS to be totally "done". Just take it in the direction that you want it to go...the best that you can. After reveal day I'm pretty sure everyone involved will help us tweak them.

I've had to put mine aside for a few days, but hopefully tomorrow I can make some progress.

Re: DIFFERENT STROKES, A Forum Project:November '08

You guys...you aren't going to believe this...I feel like an idiot. I went ahead and started it. Decided I'd at least try. I got most of the main colors blocked in, and some of the detail started...

And just now realized the bottom of the apple is clear. ROTFLOL. It was stressing me out so much, I couldn't figure out what all I was seeing. My DH explained the reflections to me...but I still didn't understand what else was showing up in the glass...until I had painted most of it. hehe.

Thanks EP for the support. I don't know, I think the subway was easier...but maybe I am the only one who didn't understand this apple. lol. At least with the subway, I KNEW I wasn't up to the challenge of all of it...and had to crop out half. This was different because I just didn't GET it. I thought about cropping out the apple...but I think the photo is gorgeous.

Thank you Dee. I appreciate the advice. I only spent this evening on it...since my post. I'll work on it a little tomorrow...and call it done I hope. I fear I have not been very imaginative this time...but I had my own private struggles SEEING the image. hehe.

Now if anyone tells me that apple isn't clear...I think I will cry. *grin* So...if it isn't really clear...please don't tell me till after the reveal. giggle.

I'm posting mine a little early as I am sure it's the 20th in Australia and I'm just off to catch a plane to the UK. - Hope you don't mind Maureen.
30x40 cm - Still deciding if it's finished. Do I need any more layers?
