Re: Different Strokes - August 08

I just sold this painting!

My best friend dropped by and it's her mom's birthday soon. Both she and her mom own a few of my paintings already--one is a comission of dad who passed away, New Truck, I posted it early this year. Anyhow I showed her my most recent paintings and she grabbed this month's WC challange and asked "how much?" I didn't charge her very much at all, but I'm thrilled none-the-less. Then as she drove away, I called her on the cell phone to come back for a second--I hadn't even photographed it yet! Got the picture!

Oh come to find out the cavas is 6 x 8, not 5 x 7. OOPS.

Re: Different Strokes - August 08

congrats Jenny, that is great,
eveyone is doing 'their best work ever'
sounds intimidating! I got most of my 5x7 done (did an underpainting and now working on the foliage) I am NOT an acrylic painter (that's my story and I am sticking to it) I may do this bridge on something else (surprise will be revealed)
hey EP , I am a carpenter, maybe I should work on my own bridge too
sending some virtual nails over your way

Re: Different Strokes - August 08

A good old bridge with a slight sag in the spine makes crossing it all the more fun! You never quite know if you'll make it to the other side...

Can't wait to get back - I hope I'll have energy to finish what needs finishing, and that the painting won't darken too much.

I'll be in Chicago on the day of the Great Revealing. So if I don't respond right away you'll know why. Looking forward to it.

Um.... I have gessoed my panel... does that count? LOL

But... I have two hours to myself tomorrow and I expect to get the underpainting done then and hopefully over the weekend my children will want to paint! LOL

Re: Different Strokes - August 08

Hi all. Well I wasn't going to participate this month because I thought we would be on the road. But as life has a way of interfering with plans, we are still home for another 2-3 wks. So started my painting this afternoon. I got it all blocked in and the background done. My little 2 yr old granddaughter came in and says "Grammy, painting bridge". So, I guess I am doing ok.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone's rendition of this challenge.
Thank you for the fun of this challenge.
Pat
