Re: Different Strokes: June '08

I'm done!
Vicki, there was a point (well, more than one!) where I considered tossing this one but I thought of all the work that went into the initial drawing and thought 'No way!' So, for good or ill, I continued.

It's 'different' - but I promise you I had nothing other than normal drinks during the process!!!!!!!!

Re: Different Strokes: June '08

Maureen, I can't wait to see what you've cooked up. In fact, most of the people here seem to say this painting came out different, so it will be interesting to see.

The people at the office (I hanged the painting, as advertized, an hour ago) say they like it, and I'm surprised and happy. 5 days to go, and at least 3 of us are after the finish line.

Hi Maureen! Must be a great feeling to be done early! I can't wait to see your version!

Hi Sam! Even if you're not finished, you can still post what you have done on the 20th and finish later. I hope you can squeeze it in!

Maureen and Anghwar - hummmm, maybe that's what I need to push mine to the finish line (or make it look good enough to me to say it's done!)

Hi Assaf! WoW, done and hung already! Good for you! I hope at posting time that you take a shot of the painting and the companion painting in your office. I'm SO anxious to see! Thanks for the link from wikipedia. It actually helped me with an area that I was struggling with and it was interesting to read about too. I think I can proceed now! Thanks again!

Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth, only recently founf WC, and only spotted this today. I'm tempted, but not sure if there's enough time to do the photo justice, but I'll have a go, I think. maybe....

Just a little side note, the owner who photographed the Busy Lizzie has given his permission for us to paint it. I will start a seperate thread for those who are interested in joining.

I think I'm about 80% done, so I guess I'll chime in and say I'm participating now. I didn't plan to participate, but the reference intrigued me.

Re: Different Strokes: June '08

I have decided to place the Invitaion/challenge in the Florals/botanicals forum so we can try it in any media we want.

You will find the thread here

Hope to see you all there

Well, I'm glad everyone else's is going well. Things here have been crazy and my vacation from Bubba is NOT going the way I had it planned. Oh well. I have been working on this, but find myself like someone else said, less than inspired... Not sure exactly where I want to go with this, so how it will turn out is anyone's guess. But at least I can say I tried... !

I think I'm finished. To quote another person, "it's not my favourite" but it'll have to do.

I'm following Anghwar over the botanicals project to see if I can make a bigger mess than she can
