Re: Crushed it WIP

Pam, Harry, Robert, lumiere, Karen, chuas, Tatiana, Karen70, Jen, Charlie, Sarah, Barbara, plt8769, Donna, Deirdre and Chris - thank you so much, you're all too kind! I'm glad you're enjoying the wip, I appreciate you looking and commenting!

I have the day off work today, we celebrate our Labour day today, what better time to try to catch up on things in the studio...
I'll be redoing the edges of the yolk reflections, I've been giving the painting a rest (well, had no choice really, we went away last weekend for a concert with one of my favorite bands - Kaizers Orchestra. Great, great show, they are a huge inspiration to my artistically...) Getting back into the painting I'm still not happy with that last bit, so I'll change it up. A few final touches in the back before I add the final highlights, and hopefully this will be done.... I'm itching to start a new painting today, lol!

Deirdre - I'd be honored to have this in the wip section, I'm pleased if someone will find it useful!

Re: Crushed it WIP

I think this might be done, at least for now...

As you can see I have redone the reflection of the yolk, and the right eggshell. It looks better this way, I hope it reads right?
I have added little highlights in the egg white, to make it look more fluid. It doesn't show very well in the photo but it is there. I'm still not sure about the distorted line between the egg shells. I pushed it back some more, but I still find it a bit disturbing to the eye. Is it just because I'm aware of it, or should I just remove it?

Here it is anyway, thank you all for looking, I appreciate it!

Re: Crushed it WIP

hello
i think i follow you :
> off the left edge , there is a dark subtle mass
and the irregular arc between the shells is just one step up in value
= the depth seems to be compromised .

there is a ' girdle ' around the yolk extending to the disk base below the right shell .
> if that was adjusted some , the yolk might come forward just a bit clearer .

the reflections on the egg ' goo ' look like it was just opened !

Re: Crushed it WIP

Great finish Merethe, love it. If the lines between the 2 egg shells is bothering you, I would try to tone it down a bit more and make the lines a bit softer, see if that works. It does seem to come forward a bit and come up a bit (I hope you understand what I mean)

Re: Crushed it WIP

Merethe, what fantastic work! It's been great to read your thought processes too. Thank you for the time you spent writing it all out!
I would step away from this for a while before committing to any changes to the area between the shells. When you come back you'll see it differently and may realise it works....or you may know exactly what to do to make it please you!

Re: Crushed it WIP

Ed - you're right, I need to adjust those issues. I was debating weather to remove that "girdle", you have confirmed that I should. And I have to go back and fix that space between the shells. You have a sharp eye, as always - thank you!

Marina - thank you, I understand what you mean, I'm going to rework that area.

Ruth - thank you for looking and commenting! That area has been bothering me all the way, so I'm just going to change it. Some fine tuning should do...

toniov - thank you for your lovely comment!

Jen - thank you so much, I appreciate it!

Re: Crushed it WIP

I think it is lovely. I have no clue what you are talking about changing. Would you post before and afters for us newbies. It would be a great help. I think the ordinary lay person would look at this and love it with no changes.
