I am a retired RN living in New Mexico, USA. I have been painting since retirement, 7 years ago. I started with oils, but have moved on to watercolor as my preferred medium. Recently, I am trying out pastels; pan, pencil and stick.
I love the desert! I travel frequently with my husband of 50 years to Arizona, the Pacific Northwest and the Midwest, where our families live. Yearly, we take one special trip and have visited Ireland, Alaska, Israel and Iceland. We live in a 200 y/o adobe that is beautiful, but requires constant upkeep! These places are the inspiration for my art, as well as portraits of my family and friends. My preferred subject is landscapes. I am mostly self taught, (books, magazines and on line tutorials) and try to attend at least one workshop or class yearly.
The above is one of my first attempts with pastels. It is done from a picture I took one morning while camping on the rim of the Grand Canyon. I would love feedback!
Looking forward to hearing from the group.
