My husband and I got in the boat and finally got out on the lake for pictures.

I thought these swamps were spooky places..alive with alligators and snakes and stuff!!

September 1, 2003 at 1:53 pm #1015035Thanks everyone for looking and commenting. There are alligators in the swamp, but it isn’t often that anyone sees one. In dry years they do migrate, we live about a mile and a half from the lake and two years in a row we had them show up in our pond. One was 11 feet long the others were babies.
Those are Cypress Trees and in the fall they turn a nice orange/red and the contrast is breathtaking. In places where the water is low you will get the classic Cypress Knees….I will get some pictures of that when the mosquitos aren’t as bad!!!!
Oh, and I didn’t see not one snake, either. But they are there and they are very dangerous….Water Moccasins.
