Hi everyone
Wanted to share a low-relief paper sculpture I finished some weeks ago.
Osprey on the Hunt
Specifications: 12.5″ x 25″ mixed media paper sculpture
Prismacolor pencil on Mi-Teints paper
Reference photo credit: Sandy Scott, used with permission
While the background is a combination of paper cutting and scrapbooking paper, the osprey is a cardstock and foam core construction covered with Prismacolor pencil on Mi-Teints paper. Feathers (both grouped and individual) are colored, cut and glued to a cardstock frame. The overall depth of the sculpture (somewhat lost in photography) is 1″.Here’s the finished osprey before being attached to the background.
I posted a few work in progress photo in the Colored Pencil thread illustrating some of the steps in construction:

So long, and thanks ...

Ospreys have zygodactyl toes, like an owl or woodpecker– two in front, two in back.
