Lovely. I agree it needs more contrast if you would look at the ref photo through a red acetate film or cellophane you would see the different tone/values it 's value that create form.

I agree, querin. I would normally definitely put in more lights and darks, but this was an experiment with textures and techniques I learned. I got it to a certain point and just decided to stop.

I definitely agree with Darla, it is a high key painting.

Sandy – I’m not really sure how to interpret what Ernst meant exactly by “When the original is stronger in the colors?” But, I’m guessing that he might be asking why, when the original is so strong in colour why not your painting? Or, he may be suggesting you should make the grapes a stronger colour. I don’t really know.
You can ask him, just Google translations and write in what you want in English and have it translated into German then PM Ernst.
Perhaps someone else has a better idea???
