Francien X-post portraiture

Size is 60 by 50 cm on primed hardboard panel.

Using the cheaper Winton and van Gogh Oil paint with a Zorn palet i.e. very restricted:

-Titanium white
-Ivory black
-Cadmium red
-Yellow ocre

In the Zorn palet the black is supposed to serve as blue but to give that in some places a bit more emphasis i added a little

-Ultramarine blue

Used a lot more paint that I used to do i.e. scooping it up with the brushes and trying to paint with full brushes only. Using a a little Zestit brush cleaner/dilutant to clean the brush but applying the paint without medium.

This came out great, I remember seeing it as a WIP and learning about the Zorn Pallette then as you worked on it. Very natural-looking expression and lighting

Re: Francien X-post portraiture

Derek, Harry, Paul, thank you for the comments. I could elaborate a bit more on the mixing of the palet with those 4 colors to end up with a premixed palet of 20 colors (that are in harmony with each other and great for skin tones) but maybe better done in the colormixing channel?
