Re: As the Oily Rag Burns..... June 2018

Thanks Becca. A walk in the fresh air helped a lot.

The willows in the wash (what a great title for an as yet unpainted painting):

This is a branch from a bush in the Legume family, known as a cat's claw, and it's claws are very sharp! However, the fragrance is just heavenly! If you have ever burned a Citrus-Sage Yankee candle, that is almost exactly what it smells like.

Re: As the Oily Rag Burns..... June 2018

One of my classmates " Mike Schivo " is into jazz http://www.yourjazz.com/gallery.html
We will leave in the morning and pick up Oliver around noon. I will guess we will drop him off Sunday. And back through about 10 days later but we will take the I-5 cut off. Thank goodness for that. Before they put that in If I was driving I'd miss I-5 and end up in Seatle or someplace downtown. Then wake up my husband and ask him where we are? Once when I wanted Seatle I could see the road and told him I wanted that one. It still took an hour or so for him to find it. It's not the only time I get the wrong state.

Lol, Becca. Some days it is nice to just stay home. If you can keep intrusions out (hard in this digital age) too, more the better!

Safe travels Mary, sounds like you won't be getting lost!

Morning Marcia...they were very different concerts... the second was as good, but probably my preference leaned to the first...but I did have front row centre tickets for the second...and he is very talented...

Re: As the Oily Rag Burns..... June 2018

Good Morning Oilycats!!!

I believe this is the week of Dr's appointments, tests, and possibly surgeries for a lot of you. I hope you are all doing well!

Becca, glad you enjoyed both events, they sounded like a lot of fun.

I painted nearly all day yesterday and really made progress on the latest painting. Went out to check on candles late afternoon, and the new cooler pump I installed last week was not working. So as soon as I post this, I am going out there to do a thorough cleaning of the unit, stick the pump in a bucket of clean water and hope it still works. If not, I will have to return it. Not how I planned my day to be, but it needs to be fixed.

Wish I oculd wait for bf to get out of bed and help, but by then it will be too hot. :/

Thanks Marcia...and yes .. best thoughts and wishes for everyone.

Sorry for the cooling issues Marcia...hate when things like that happen...hope you spot a simple fix.

Fleet week here...ships are in or coming in...would go check...but unlike last weekends perfect weather we are cool and windy and loads of rain forecast...

Re: As the Oily Rag Burns..... June 2018

I gave the cooler a thorough cleaning, stuck the pump in a bucket of clean water, and it worked fine, so i threw it all together. Had to scrub a large area rug too, that Skeez had a couple accidents on overnight. She snuck into the library and ended up spending the night in there and it obviously upset her. A few other things on top of all that, and biy do I need a nap!

I think I will, before heading out to do some painting.

Re: As the Oily Rag Burns..... June 2018

Yeah, the quiet here this week worries me too.

I am close to painting, had an interruption in my day.

There was a low pressure warning when I went to get my mail this morning, and sure enough, there was a nail sticking out of my tire. I took it in and alas, it was too close to the sidewall to patch, so I had to order a new tire. Ouch. The car only has 8800 miles on it. I also found out that if there were 15,000 miles on the tires, I would have had to replace all 4, because it is all wheel drive.

When I got home, I did a quick little job. And I talked to the Red VW client yesterday. He doesn't know when he can take possession of the painting, but will pay me the other half right away via paypal, which will cover the tire with a little left over. C'est la vie.

Re: As the Oily Rag Burns..... June 2018

It looks like I will not be able to eat at the restaurant where my classmates eat every month. I took my husband along with me this time, and the food sent me into a shock yet again. I try to avoid salt, and still end up trying to catch my breath, since the last time I fell, my friends took me to the hospital. I love the people who run the restaurant, so I'm thinking of asking them to get the cook to come up with much smaller portions or an entirely different, salt-free dish just for me. (They love me, too!)

When I go see the heart doctor next Friday, I'll ask him for suggested menus, and, look some up myself.

I haven't been painting, so I really need to get back to it, since painting always makes me feel better. I have an old photo I took of my two kids that I love, and I'm thinking of using it to paint them.
