Two Waterfalls....

I like painting waterfalls, probably because there are always a few rocks nearby! Both oil on heavyweight papers 12 x 16.

My new phone seems to overstate the colours, and whilst these are bright, perhaps not a bright as they show here.

Thank you for looking and thank you for your c and c!

Re: Two Waterfalls....

I think they look vivid in a good way Trudi! I know what you mean about these phones and getting the proper lighting. Someday, I am going to invest in a mirrorless camera and some lighting towers. I think I keep putting that off because I will have to learn a new operating system since these cameras in the past few years are so complex.

The first waterfall is my favorite. Your fine detail in the grasses pair so well with the detail in the cascading waterfall. I like the way you subdued the water in shadow leading back to that lovely mass of trees. Excellent painting!

In the second one, I really love your rock detail. You are so good at painting rocks and the calmer water in the foreground is awesome. I like the way you shifted the waterfall to the right hand side so it is not in the center.

Great job with both of these!

Re: Two Waterfalls....

Great detail throughout, but I particularly like the reflections on the water in the first one. You handled that perfectly! I agree that cameras are imperfect tools, especially in my hands! They are the source of great frustration for me, and if I weren’t already busy trying to learn how to paint, I’d try to learn how to handle them better.

Re: Two Waterfalls....

I like both paintings. In the 1st, the water and trees fit together beautifully. It's like a dream of just happening onto a scene like that, it has a real serenity.

I like that you can see part of the nice sky in the second painting.

Great work Trudi.

Re: Two Waterfalls....

Your waterfalls are beautifully painted with each capturing the moving water nicely.
The 1st flows directly towards the viewer yet creates an interest ''V'' shape which invites the viewer into the scene. I like that !

I love the 2nd also as the water does not fall straight but meanders interesting down the rocky slope & into the pond below.
Your trees & foliage are well placed, keeping attention in the scenes.
Nicely Painted Trudi !

Michael.

Re: Two Waterfalls....

Rob thank you very much for your kind and supportive comments which always encourage me.

Michael thank you too. I am very pleased you like them. I enjoyed painting the water: it is the nearest thing to knife work I have done lately, but with a brush!

Beautiful work Trudi. I love the first painting, the way you capture the distance in this one is really good. The water is painted so well too, I can feel the water rushing over the rocks and the reflections are just perfect!

You paint such a beautiful, exotic world, bring color and light into a painting. Your paintings are worth exploring. Gary

Trudi
I really like both of your paintings and they are beautifully done. Your foliage textures are spot on and the flow of water very realistic to me.
Great job as always my friend.

Re: Two Waterfalls....

Both are nicely painted. The subject can often be cliche, but neither of these are. Nicely painted, good work with those rocks.
