(WIP) "Spring is in the Air"

Hello everyone this is my latest piece I'm working on thought I would show progress as I go along. First I make my own canvas cut the wood in my shop for the stretcher and then staple drop cloth canvas to the stretcher. Next I add plain gesso thin and wet to pull the canvas tight. After drying and sanding I add more gesso but this time I start to shade in color total of about 8-10 coats of gesso before painting straight acrylic. If you have any questions please ask, I also have photos of the canvas making part if anyone is interested in seeing that part. Here are the progress photos from start to present.

I had a few more hours to work on this today. From this point forward the details should start popping, I need to add the mist in the upper hillside area yet.

Interesting to see the progression. Nice colors and textures. I especially like colors in those last two details. Very nice.

Thank you very much Derek and David I'm still working on the fine details but it's close now, here two photos with different lighting.

It's always interesting to see how others paint, and I enjoy seeing progress photos like these, and how other artists progress from one step to the next. I like how you slowly added more and more detail, especially on those Japanese maples. Very gorgeous the way it turned out. The reflection is spot on, with the way you slightly blurred it. This is a very tranquil scene, with the water not moving but just having a very peaceful atmosphere.

Nice!! The mirror effect of the landscape reflecting in calm water is definitely something I find appealing. A fine effort!

I also find the fifth image in the first post incredibly appealing! With very little additional work, that could've also been a fine effort.

Great job, intense colors. My only thought is that the value of the reflection of the blossoms should be lower than the actual trees. Great job!
