Re: DIFFERENT STROKES: Our forum challenge for January

Hi everyone, so sorry to have deserted you!
I had an emergency admission to hospital on 11th and released on 20th, so trying to regain strength and energy!

Seeing all these very impressive works has really cheered me ... the styles, 'isms', comps , variety of interpretations of the season are all so creative!

I'd like to comment individually but hope you'll forgive me for being remiss this time!

Thank you so much for each and every entry!..... and for leading me to other painters not previously in my sphere!....... strangely, I recently read a book that mentioned Wyeth's ' Christina's World', so I looked that up too in viewing his work.

I'll be back properly soon!!😃

Welcome back Maureen! Glad you are on the mend now.

David I really like that 3rd painting. I saw Munch right away, so you really nailed it!

Re: DIFFERENT STROKES: Our forum challenge for January

Dorrat - Well done with the last painting. The chap looks cold and it looks like he is saying so. You have put in a really big effort this month with 3 works. Go you. Good job.

Welcome back Maureen.. Glad to know that in our small way, our entries gave you a bit of a boost.

Best wishes for a nice return home, healing and peace.

Cheers
Merri

Barbara, nice "dogism". And a very nice scene he is in.

Imogene, nice nostalgic subject.

David, good job! Very expressive.

Nice to have you back Maureen. Sorry I didn't take part this month.

Re: DIFFERENT STROKES: Our forum challenge for January

Wow, you guys are amazing! Some beautiful work on here and I am learning about the different styles as well. Thanks!
Maureen - Thanks for hosting. Hope you are feeling better.
Merriweather - Love, love the mushrooms. Your colors are very nice and the textures are so cool. Great job!
Tuscanny - Lovely mountain scene. Yes sometimes I wish I lived in a warmer climate.
Colin S - Aww, sweet pic of the kids. Nice colors in the snow shadows. No, it is the East Coast of Canada, (Newfoundland)
Talisman - Very cool interpretation of the Winter.* Love the detail.
Dorrant - Beautiful work.* The one of the lake behind your house - Love the colors - wish I could do this. (Maybe in time.)* The Munch scene is great. Driving or walking in snow can be a challenge. ☺
Bjcpaints - Sweet job on your co-workers dog.* He looks excited to be out in the snow.
Rosta - Great job on the skaters.* Can almost hear the scrape of the skates on ice and had to go get my sweater.
Imogene Thomas* - I like your winter scene.* Great to have shelter over your vehicles - don't have to shovel too much before you can go for a drive. (From someone who knows!)* Just got through a 7 day State of Emergency because of "Winter

Re: DIFFERENT STROKES: Our forum challenge for January

This was a wonderful challenge. I have really enjoyed all the entries and the chat /learning.

Maureen: Was wondering if we could do it again... after all, there are so many isms. So many favourite artists, it has been great learning and sharing month.

To everyone who submitted, Bravo.

It has been beaut.

Cheers

Of course it can be done again ... it can be your theme if you wish, when you host later in the year.🙂

Aren't we clever at getting additional hosts.

Re: DIFFERENT STROKES: Our forum challenge for January

I will put up the February challenge tomorrow. In the meantime, I have final, late, down to the wire entry for this month:

Snow Angel-- A study of Mt. St. Angela, done in the style of Canadian Post-Impressionism, specifically Lawren Harris' Red House painting:

16x20 canvasboard.

ColinS - wow, now that is just lovely.
I looked up the artist, and gosh, really nice wow factor art ( for me) so another artist I find. Good work.
I love the primaries supported by white. You have done a wonderful job on the house structure too.
