Re: January/February 2020 Landscape Challenge

I did a version of the bicycle and tree scene. A rather simplistic approach this time using Photoshop and DAP.

I didn't like the mess of tree roots, so I cloned them out with grasses. I added the man that I got from the Kerkyra Str. image.

C&C welcome.

Thanks Peter! An impressive manipulation of the tree scene. I like the addition of the man.

Very dreamlike, Peter. I like that quality about this one. Always interested in seeing what you will do with the images in these monthly challenges.

Lovely version of the cottage, Christel. Beautiful textures on the cottage and the foliage is very well done.

Both of these images look very challenging and you painted them both very nicely. If I had to pick one to hang on my wall it would be the hot air balloon. You did a fine job with the colors and shapes. Well done.

Sundiver, This challenge has spiked my interest. The reference photos you selected are all wonderful and could and will probably inspire some spectacular creations, like the ones already posted.

Peter,
Your first creation is totally unique, intriguing and eye-catching. You probably know that I adore abstracts, so this appeals so much to me at that level. Well done, Peter. I know you put a lot of thought into your creations and I enjoy being surprised every time I see a newly finished product. The city scene is certainly something that I would hang on my walls.

I also enjoy you newest upload which has great color and contrast. I like how your manipulation enhanced the shadows from the photo. But the best part is the strength of the sun shining on the balloon and land. I feel the warmth coming off of my screen.

Tuscanny, You certainly captured the intimacy of the tiny cottage. It is like that image that remains in your mind when you first lay eyes on a sweet little dwelling like that. You definitely took time to work on all of the details making the composition look realistic and eye catching.

Artsymom, your paintings are bright, cheerful and uplifting (no pun intended). I bet you were happy when you were painting these because that is what I feel when I view your two paintings.

So, since your guidelines say that it is okay to use digital software to enhance the photos and it is something that I thoroughly enjoy, I decided to try my hand at one of the quality photos in the challenge. Photography being my first love, I sort of feel terrible altering any of the photos but I know that is the goal of this challenge, put our twist on things and then share with you all.

This was fun and thank you for allowing me to participate in this fun activity.
The birds are from the Detroit Zoo (Michigan), where I captured them in my camera on Tuesday.

Lorell

I commented on Peter's dreamlike painting in a post above, but this one is absolutely dreamlike. You pushed the limits of creativity with this one. Great job!

A beautiful version of the image. Colors and painterly quality are gorgeous. You captured the moment perfectly in this one. The setting sun reflecting off the water is spot on!

Of all the challenges you accepted this month, this one is my favorite of yours. Your idea to extract the figure and place it in this painting was a great idea that payed off. The texture and "blockiness" of the shapes in the scene are very appealing. Nice job, Peter.

Wow I love that journal! A very interesting format/aspect. Your painting is very painterly and beautiful in its simplistic and minimal brushwork. Fantastic job on this challenge!
