Girl in Pink + WIP

Hi all. Some of you may remember a portrait I did a couple of years ago of this same girl (ref from the RIL). Well, this new one was a practice for a demo I gave at a workshop (yes ME - a demo!!!) The demo went well but I never actually finished the demo piece. I did finish the practice piece though and here it is. 13.5x10.5" on fisher 400.

And...I SOLD it yesterday

Let me be have the privilige to applaud first
I am in absolute awe!!! Once in a while a piece comes here on WC that blows my mind, and this is one of them. The last time that happened was when Chris(Allydoodle) displayed her amazing old lady portrait.

Re: Girl in Pink

Good for you, Ruthie! A very successful demo, successful painting and sale. What more could you ask for? The skin tones are beautiful and I'm particularly taken with the painting of her teeth. That is very difficult. Nice done!

Re: Girl in Pink

Unbelievable... so you are saying that you had this jewel in your drawer for years?

Unbelievable
Congratulations! It's wonderful, no wonder it has been already sold!

Re: Girl in Pink

Anoop, Wow! Thank you I am proud for my portrait to be compared with one of Chris'!

Karen, Thanks so much! I guess I'll never actually finish the demo one now. Somehow it doesn't feel right now this one's sold.

Blayne, Thank you! This girl's face is and was a joy to paint. There are so many reflected colours in it....and they are right there in the photo too.

Don, Thank you my friend.

Nick, thank you! No, this is a new one but I did a portrait from this ref a while back aswell. I'll see if I can find it..........

Re: Girl in Pink

Here's the old one. Done in 2011 according to the image date. You can see my style hasn't actually changed much. I do think the new one is better though, more artistically mature maybe.

Well done Ruthie, and you can definitely see your growth as an artist from the old to the new paintings. Told you you keep getting better and better and are now up there with the good ones! Congratulations!
