First layer of glaze

Here is the painting with the first layer of glazing. It's really hard to get a photo because of the glare.
I'm letting this layer dry, so I think I'll take down the Christmas tree
What you can't see in the photo is all the interesting colors in the pumpkin shadow; there's oranges and purples, greens and reds.
I'm still not sure where I'm going with the background. In the photo, the darkest part of the background is similar to the pumpkin color. I do want it to be opaque though, to counteract all the glazed areas.
So far I'm having fun and learning lots.
I already have my next two painting ideas. I want to paint my daughter but thought I would first practice painting my cat. I generally don't do things with faces.

Re: First layer of glaze

Your painting is beautiful! I hope the second coat goes as well.

I have problems taking pics of my paintings. The sometimes come out fish eyed and sometimes slanted. I really can't get the hand of my camera.

You've really done a fantastic job!!!
