Three Bridges Road

Funny, there aren't three bridges along this road, and there aren't three bridges in the town called Three Bridges, but that's the name of this road. This one has been on my easel for a month or more, I think it's finally done. It's another scene from my bicycle routes. Any C&C is welcome.

Re: Three Bridges Road

nice soft light .. would expect some light on the trees (viewer left) near the top of the hill as the road is flooded with light ..

Re: Three Bridges Road

I really like this painting, it feels very tranquil. It reminds me of many happy summer nights spent riding my bike around the local countryside

Re: Three Bridges Road

Hi Joe,
Very nicely done, fine work indeed.
So, is your bike route a training route or just a pleasant place to ride? If training, uphills like this qualify for a darker mood!

No training, I ride just for fun. I do have some pleasant roads to ride on, but some killer hills too.

Wayne, your're right about the lack of light on the trees - maybe I'll fix that.

3chaway9, I like your idea about actually showing a cyclist - maybe I'll try that in my next painting.

Thanks, everyone!

Re: Three Bridges Road

Very nice work, Joe. Good use of lights and darks here make for some very realistc effects. Superb colors, especially on the road. You have achieved great depth in the piece as well.

Re: Three Bridges Road

Good job! The shadows across the road very effectively slow the eye following the median strip of the road. I like the suggestions of adding a little more light in the sunlit portion of the roadway, and to add a cyclist ... even if it was a very small one as the road disappears. But there is always another canvas, another composition! I would be VERY pleased if this was my painting!
