Axe To Grind

MY IMAGE(S):

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Title: Axe To Grind
Year Created: 2004
Medium: Oil
Surface: Board
Dimension: 22 x 28
Allow digital alterations?: Yes!

MY COMMENTS:
I met this old guy out in L'anse Aux Meadows, Nfol. He was 82 and a total ball of laughs. Great sense of humor and I never knew when to believe him or not. He said he was going to cut all this wood in one day and put it in his storage shed for winter. LOL .. that one I knew couldn't be true but then again .. his fingers were as big as my fists. Job Anderson .. nice old man.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
??

Wayne, love the story! The old man is wonderful!

Now, give those logs some darks on the bottoms. Impact the size of them.

Re: Axe To Grind

good story Wayne
Like this one a lot.
Good composition.
Looks you were fed up with painting all those logs.

Re: Axe To Grind

Hi Wayne, great story and appropriate title. I can see his character in this painting. I agree with the others about the logs.

Re: Axe To Grind

thanks ...
the whole piece is darker but for some reason my camera doesn't like to photo it properly. I will try for a better photo. Caroline .. not bored, I just can't see any reason to put a lot into each log individually .. just a suggestion of a log pile works for me.

Re: Axe To Grind

Fingers as big as fists?! Crikey.

I like the painting, love the story. Bet he had lots of stories.

Won't say anything about the lighting, as you have touched base on that already. Apparantly he had the patience of Job as well regarding the chopping of that wood. There's nothing more interesting than meeting someone who has a profound impact on you in some way. Except, maybe capturing that moment.

Are you going to forward him a photograph of it? It would make his day if you could.
