Re: Sketch thread for oil pastels 2017

That bottle is cool!! I'm amazed at how you're getting clear plastic/glass, complete with reflections and shadows. Such a simple little sketch, but wow.

Okay, I had to roam around this whole site to get to the main page and stumble across the Artwork from Life and those Scavenger hunt threads. Very clever idea, and gives an excuse to grab those oil pastels. I'm still such a beginner, anything that compels me to get something down on paper is useful.

I will try to knock off a few from this recent list and post them in here, too.

Oh YAY, Terri. Scavenger hunt is really fun and as you said, motivating.
And makes it easier to pick something to sketch, too.
Look forward to your sketches.

Re: Sketch thread for oil pastels 2017

Okay, I got inspired from the subjects over in the Scavenger Hunt forum. Here are a couple of them I did yesterday.

A floor lamp (got kind of messy with all that black!):

And a potted plant. I always liked the colors on this little pot of mine, so I try to put in a pretty annual every summer. I used my senns here because I had an exact match for that blue.

It was a fun exercise, and best of all I didn't have to think, just look at a subject in front of me.

Thanks! That one went pretty quickly, too, being mostly one color and not complex at all. It was a fun exercise.

Re: Sketch thread for oil pastels 2017

Here's one from earlier today. The view is from my kitchen window, and the wind kept the thing swinging a bit!

From the current Scavenger hunt list, a bird feeder.

Nice bird feeder! The seed part especially is very nicely done.

Rainy, Christel - thank you!

Nanners!! Great job, Rainy. I love the black dots and lines that are a realistic showing of how they look when they are ripe. The little bit of green on the ends is perfect.

Terri, Your pot and flowers are wonderful. Your birdfeeder is swingin'!

Rainy, for a quick one, that's pretty good. I too am a banana lover. (The price has just gone up on them. Again.) Good detail there.
