I thought the sunflower was for me? I did one years ago that I was so proud of. I thought I was so original and then.... Anyway, donated it and was appreciated!

Now I'm doing my wee experiment and I'm in HEAVEN! I may be the next Jackson Pollack! This is so fun but I still have to wait and watch.... it's in my control and so out of my control at the same time. It's very different than what I had been thinking I would do. Well, I was also planning on waiting for the base coat to dry. I'm not sure what finished will look like but I'm already excited to share it.

Good job, Michelle! Nice looking bovine.
I play mahjongg dimensions all the time on the computer, when I'm not painting and need to veg.

Re: QDC -The Quick Dry Café - The Place to Chat

Sheila, I use a lot of dark green. Its the background for any forest and pine trees, etc. The brighter colours go on top of it. I would love to have a large amount of dark green given to me. As it is, I make jars of it now out of Christmas green and black and use that behind the trees. I usually mix all my own shades.

I think painting is relaxing and stressful. Doing a commissioned painting for someone else can be stressful for me, since it has to be exactly done and someone else has to be happy with it. (I'm starting one today.) I find just painting for me is very relaxing if I'm the only person that matters. I use it to escape from stressful reality.

We want to see the "experiment" when its done!

I'm working on a repair for a customer. She handed me a damaged painting done by someone else on a large tile and asked me if I could fix it. I have managed to sand down the damaged area and repaint it but I keep messing up other areas while fixing those. Its so frustrating! I've been working on that tile for a couple of weeks, a little here and there. I'm hoping to get it done today but its tricky! The base picture on it is very thin paint and it doesn't take much to accidentally take it off in a small area.

I love sunflowers! I have plans to paint them on my bathroom wall.

I'm totally confused now and have no idea why blue is talking sunflowers.

Messing up one area while fixing another is very familiar. It happened while I was fixing the ox lol. Happens a lot when I play with polymer.

I think today I will try out Blender. Hope my brain doesn't melt.

Re: QDC -The Quick Dry Café - The Place to Chat

I wouldn't get so frustrated with it if it didn't belong to someone else and they are very attached to it. I'm so afraid of messing it up permanently and having to give it back unfinished and saying that I just couldn't fix it. Or just scraping it all off and trying to redo it myself exactly as it was painted originally.

I'm doing a little furniture moving so to put in more shelves. I need space for my cans of paint.

I don't know why we got onto sunflowers either, but I like them.

Re: QDC -The Quick Dry Café - The Place to Chat

We got into ‘sunflowers’ because we were discussing an artist who cut off his right ear and became famous for his ‘sunflower’ paintings...he got the idea, after visiting Monet and seeing his ‘sunflower’ painting!...

We asked Sheila, if she still had her ears....and thence, ‘sunflowers’...

They still are very popular!..

Re: QDC -The Quick Dry Café - The Place to Chat

It's very wet here, no sunflowers , no sun ... just torrential rain and hail

I'm trying to picture Sheila with three ears ... is the third in the centre of her forehead I wonder? .... picture in today's paper ... a lovely young dog, born with an extra little tail, where?, in the middle of his forehead!

Sheila, I don't think you are supposed to keep horses in the bath.... eek!

..... but I am glad you're enjoying your painting!😃😁

Re: QDC -The Quick Dry Café - The Place to Chat

Directly above where I sit for HOURS each day is a goodish sized print of VanGogh's Sunflowers! Still, when I think VanGogh I think "Starry Starry Night" or The Bedroom.

Maureen, I saw that dog with the tail on its forehead! That seems so arbitrary because the usual tail is an extension of its spine. There is no "spine" near the forehead! I have a single extra vertebra that does not make a tail but it's been agony of ruptured disk material and stenosis.

Sheryl, I'm thinking you live in a big place like my previous residences. Here I am lucky to fit in a full week's supply of groceries. No room for shelves for containers of paint or rolls of canvas nor stretcher bars or tools. I did some big canvas stretching in my younger years but now I work on a much, much smaller scale.

Waiting to see Carol's landscape!

Sheila

Maureen, as Calor alluded to, Maddy is quite the fan of FOOD. When I visited him I bought carrots, apples, and wintergreen Lifesavers! Other horses I've loved have enjoyed orange juice, pineapple, nuts.... horses are just tall ponies and ponies will eat you out of house and home!

I keep looking at my work thus far. Usually I want to move on it to cover my previous work but now I'm enjoying each stage. Maybe it was not intended for me to do life. I may be an abstract person but in my sketches I usually enjoy loads of detail. The difference being, for me, the ease of using inks over pouring our tubes of paint, mixing, wasting.... Right now I'm going to make myself stick with abstracts and NOT just because the Challenge this month includes Impressionism and children!

Ah yes, sunflowers, how did I not make the connection?

I had to look up the puppy with the extra tail, named Narwhal of course. Very strange.

I'm waiting to see Carol's landscape too. Sounds like it will be a while yet. lol
