I sketch plein air whenever I can and this is from memories of the beach at sunset, with the reflections on the wet sand.
Done on Sunday for a pastel exhibition hanging on the Wednesday – nothing like taking it to the wire!
the pale grey is actually a very pale icy blue
about 14 inches, pastel – underpainted with pastel plus water to create washes, then dry pastels over, on Fisher 400 paper

January 18, 2020 at 1:12 pm #934511I really like the strokes in this piece. It also is on the border of being purely abstract and representational. Good choice of colour. I like this piece a lot.
