Good morning all, good evening JJ.

A nice morning light overcast and 7C.

Ruth is feeling much better today but she is going to miss her knitting group this morning.

Well, the weather has been so mild I spot a Camelia bloom already.

Good morning. Too much sleep last night, so I am wide awake right now.

I finished the income taxes, and I also organized the medical receipts drawer. I know that new medical things are expensive, but my bone stimulator cost $5k. No wonder only a doctor can prescribe it.

Doug, I am glad that Ruth is feeling better. She is wise to stay home for a few more days.

JJ, Welcome home….sorry about it being so hot.

Have a wonderful day, I am off to bed.

                Good evening all.

No sleep last night cos it was hot and dripping. Hot and dripping today too.
Marshall, no one gets used to humidity. Can do for dry heat.
                Whatever.

Cockies were disgusting tonight. Last night sixty could eat without fighting. Tonight I noticed that many were flying in landing on others, which causes … a fight…. no kidding.

Then there were a couple walking around not eating but pecking. I was about to get up and leave them to it when I was attacked by a bitey fly. These ones we nickname B52s. Bigger than horseflies. Naturally my slapping cleared off all the guests apart from a few die hard young ones. How do I know they are young? THey look it.

Too sweaty to say more … so I’ll say what Uschii said. That includes good to hear from you Darla. No way of accelerating your retirement?

                everyone,
Still too dark to see what it’s doing outside. It snowed lightly during the night so Brian might need to snow blow again. I think I’ll try removing the garlands off our stair railings if they aren’t frozen in place.

The first thing this morning though will be the gym. Which reminds me that I have to try on my bathing suits to see if there is one that fits. I want to sign up for water yoga at our local pool. If I need a new suit I’ll have to go shopping before Friday. I haven’t worn one in years and I don’t know what condition they are in.

I need to start sorting paperwork to get ready to do our taxes. We keep getting papers by mail until mid March so I can’t do them yet but I can get the information collected and organized.

I better have breakfast and do the online banking so I’ll keep this short. Enjoy the start of a new week.

A good Monday to all……down right warm this morning. Winds shifted and coming out of the S-SW so our temps are rising. We hit 71°F yesterday, had the house all opened up….today we get rain starting. Thunderstorms tomorrow and last of rain on Wednesday as the next cold front drops in…..end of week highs only in the low to mid 40’s…….then another warming trend. Typical Memphis weather…..don’t like it, hang around it’ll change in 15 minutes.

No big plans today…..other than parking myself in the studio, cue up my Tony Bennett duets file and work on a few things……..unfortunately, didn’t get to the pruning yesterday though it was a beautiful day for it…..end of monthly shot pain flared. Woke up feeling off a little, but thought it might have just been slept in awkward position (not hard to do when cats decide use you as a sleeping backstop)….thought I could work it out with my exercise routine, but it just kept getting worse….then I realized what the date was. Anybody else that’s “retired” have trouble keeping up with dates….I do good just remembering what day of the week it is…but dates have no meaning now…..other than appointments that my phone calendar keeps track of………gawd, I’m gettin old.

                Doug….hoping Ruth feels better today.

Annie…….thinking you need a referee’s shirt (Zebra stripes) to “officiate” the Cockies………get one that’s “breathable”.

Not much else happening…….I guess, other than the same old same old. Politics in the US are in the “piss-pot”…….I see the UK didn’t join Atlantis under the water after Brexit………life goes on. Greetings to all here and those to come……may your day, evening, or night be everything you’re willing to make it be………..

Be good, do good……..confuse the hell out of folks.
                Steve.

Pain and heartaches aren't options in life........misery is a choice.

                    Good Morning!!

Heat Wave, a high of 5C, Weird winter:rolleyes:

I’ll be seeing the nose surgeon this morning and meeting my pals at table tennis in the afternoon.

Took another muscle relaxant last night, slept well and the neck is bearable although not yet perfect.

Was over at the kids for dinner last night, always nice.

Lynn, I too use cushions to prop up the book in my lap, wide decision because evening before last I was sitting in another chair upstairs, had no cushions and you know what happened. Not doing that again. Handsome grandson, look at those dimples:)

Bill, I saw all the “midwife” shows, they are very good.

Nancy, you are way ahead on your taxes, are you so anxious because you are getting a refund?? Casino winnings are not taxable here.

Ellen, I have not received one piece of tax material yet.

Doug, good to hear that Ruth is feeling better. Must have been one of those 24 hour things.

[QUOTEUschi, why do you need to be researching soy isolates? They are nothing short of toxic and people need to avoid anything soy. One of the misconceptions about soy is that Asian communities eat them as a primary protein source. They don’t. They use soy more as a condiment.][/QUOTE]

Char, EXACTLY!!!! they are VERY concentrated soy protein and we here were talking about things being added to convenience food. The story I wanted to tell – I needed to eat more protein so I thought a nice way to get it is to buy “Power Bars” with grains and almonds. About 20 gr of protein coming from nuts right??? WRONG – coming from soy isolates. Soy isolates promote breast cancer.

My breast cancer was caused due to being “estrogen receptor positive” and I am to stay away from soy because it is plant based estrogen which will attach to the estrogen positive receptors.

The long and short of it is, soy isolates are a VERY concentrated form of soy and hence plant estrogen and it is in EVERYTHING – kind of cheating because we believe the protein is coming from healthy nuts or meat.

Darla, it will be hard for Larry to go back to work and I am sorry the surgery with your wrist might need to be redone. If you do, I sure hope it works and on the positive you could check off another 6 weeks or so for days off on the way to retirement.

 to you Rod, and sweaty JJ and Annie, oh and you Steve!!

Good morning to all. 48 here but sunny and going up into the mid 70s today. i didn’t get out of bed until 8:00 this morning as y shoulder was hurting and the warm bed just felt too comfortable. Chris likes a cool room for sleeping but I get cold.

Was going to visit an art store about 20 miles from my house but I think I am going to push that off until Wednesday.

Doug, I’m glad that Ruth is feeling better.

Annie, I love the cockies stories. They must be so much fun to watch.

Hi to Steve, Ellen, QS and Nancy. Was that Rod with the poetry ?

Has anyone heard from Rachel? Or did I just miss her post?

Good Morning from sunny and warm 1C, SW of Ontario. No snow. No breeze. No rain (yet).

I have an appointment in London, ON, with my pain specialist Dr. Lacerte. I’m sick unto death of Dr. appointments (99% of them are Ted’s) and wanted to cancel this one. Ted actually was angry with me and insisted that I keep the date. I am, but I don’t want to. I do hope that he can figure out what’s going on with my back.

That’s it, that’s all. My whole day will be consumed by this… the 1.5 hours to get there and the same time to get home. The hurry up and wait to be seen and then the consultation itself.

                        Sorry for griping. :(

Darla, I’m really sorry that a second surgery is needed to return your hand to some state of wellness and usefulness. I guess you have to consider the long term vs. the short term pain and recuperation. You and Larry are going to love retirement.

JJ, when I was young, no one had air conditioning and we loved grocery shopping so we could cool off.

((Ruth)) Doug, I’m glad she’s feeling some better.

                        Bore da, Rod!

Nancy, we haven’t received any of our tax paperwork yet. Mind you, we don’t have to file until the end of April.

                        Happy Grandparents’ Day, QS!

You’re sure right about the smothering effect of humidity, Annie! I hope that big fly didn’t bite you.

Ellen, I think you’ll enjoy aquabics. The water allows you to exercise more easily than on land. Don’t spend a lot on a new suit… the water treatment will eat the spandex.

Steve, keeping track of the date is easy for me because I teach on Tuesday and Wednesday and then attend Nutrition Classes on Thursday and Friday. :) So… the answer is… get a job. :p

Uschi, I’ve been avoiding soy forever. I just didn’t know why it was so bad. There are simply NO benefits to consuming it. Reading labels has become a necessity because we really need to know what’s in our food.

Marshall, what a shame that you’ve hurt your shoulder.

I’m going to grab a bite to eat and then get showered, dressed and ready for the day. I hope your day is the very best possible.

Rachel, we need you to post telling us you’re ok.

                            Good day all,

A calm bright day and a little warmer for the afternoon.

A little shopping today and I want to work on my project. So many things have gotten in the way of it.

I got my paperwork organized and itemized for my taxes yesterday, so I hope to work on that today, too. Our taxes aren’t due until April 15th. I usually have a refund so it makes no sense to wait.

We avoid soy too. Most of it is GMO unless it says so. I do use mayo with soy oil, though. Hard to find anything else.

Steve, sorry for you pain yesterday. The only thing good about getting old is …well, I can’t think of anything.

Doug, glad Ruth is feeling better.

Char, hope the doctor has some news for you that is hopeful.

                            Later,

                                :cat: HELLO EVERYONE:cat:

It’s 10:30am & I’m ready to make a run to the library & Hobby Lobby. I need a good pair of scissors for cutting fabric. I am going to be taking part in a sewing module for spring clothing. I have followed a couple of ladies for 1 year on Youtube & I’m going to join in on this one. The idea is used to make better wardrobe choices. You start with 3 tops, 2 bottoms & 1 sweater/jacket/blazer. Pick your fabrics & colors to coordinate with each other. I’ll be excited to set up my sewing area in the craft room this week.

The weather outside today is sunny & will be good temps. As the week goes along it declines. So better to get out today.

So glad to hear from Darla. Sorry to hear that your hand is still giving you fits & that the job assignment is not one you enjoy. Countdown girl, countdown!!!!!

                                Hope Ruth feels better too.

OK I’m off wishing everyone a good day.

Bill, mayo with olive oil, mayo with canola oil. Interesting re soy oil because I have not seen a mayo with that.

Char, I hope your day won’t be wasted and you get some good useable information.

Anita, nice new project!! Don’t forget to show us what you are sewing!!
