Good morning all
About six hours sleep after a late night.
More rain is forecast for the rest of the week from never ending Atlantic fronts, more flooding expected.

Warmish and dullish, what else is new although yesterday was a beautiful day. A high of 3C.
There was a LARGE Windows update yesterday evening, took forever, actually I left the computer on and went to bed. I was worried what I would find this morning but all seems to be as it should be.
I think friend Lynn and I are going for lunch today, I haven’t confirmed yet. If we are going I think it will be to Swiss Chalet, I have a Christmas gift card and it is their “buy one and get one free deal” so I can buy mine with the card and Lynn can eat free, she will like that;)
I also need to go to DIL’s mother’s place and water the plants.
JJ, sorry about the cold, you might have caught it in the plane. So glad the basement is dry.
Doug, the memory foam must be doing the trick:thumbsup:
Everyone must be sleeping in today to all you sleepyheads!!

Another grey day with snow expected. Two more days of cold and then we are expecting a weekend just above freezing. We call the thaw in February the bonspiel thaw because it usually happens when the curling bonspiels (tournaments) are on.The gym is first this morning and then I’ll figure out what to do after that. I have to meet the boys bus at 3:00. Not an exciting day but any day without stress is a good day.
Doug – I hope the flooding isn’t as bad as predicted.
JJ – get better soon.
Uschi – we ordered that meal last night through the drive through. It’s buy a meal with an appetizer and get the second meal free. When Brian got home with the food he found they hadn’t put in the appetizer so not much of a saving.
I’m tired this morning. For some reason I kept waking up with vivid dreams all night. I hope I’m not coming down with something. Breakfast is next and then get dressed. Enjoy your day.

February 18, 2020 at 8:28 am #948821Good Morning! Where is everybody? The washing is pretty light this morning. It’s raining here… no, not exactly raining, but heavy misting. It’s positively miserable. The house, although not cold, feels chilly. I’ve lit the family room fireplace and I’m going to turn on the Studio’s micro furnace to chase away the chill.
I did get Ted out of the house and we went for a very long drive all along Lake Erie and then over to Rondeau Bay. We lost the sunshine because he dallied too long at home, but it was beautiful nonetheless. The ice blanketing and damaging some homes along the lake is staggering. A couple of the homes are damaged beyond repair with collapsed roofs. One house’s back wall is totally gone.
I didn’t climb up along the berms because, coated in ice pebbles, they were pretty slippery and difficult to navigate.
This is a berm which is about a metre high with big rocks on top of that. Since it was family day, lots of young people were out and about, climbing all along the edges!
And this is just pretty.
I have Class this afternoon. Two of my Students celebrate Birthdays this week, so I must slip out this morning to buy two little cakes. I have the elephant image worked out for them to try. I also have a fawn that I’ll work on for composition (hopefully) before they arrive.
It was really wonderful to see that so many businesses were closed yesterday. But, being a very spoiled shopper, I was a tad miffed that the grocery store was not open because I wanted to buy a rotisserie chicken for our dinner. Yes, I did manage to cook a meal with what was on hand.
Doug, I think I read that a second storm is on its way!
JJ, is there a disaster restoration company in your area that you could call? Sorry about your cold to both you and Alan.
Uschi, what a nice way to use your gift card!!
Ellen, down here the thaw normally happens in January. But this year, it’s been every couple of days. We get a cold spell for 2-3 days and then it warms up again and melts everything. It’s really not a healthy year…
I’d better get this machine shut down… I still have 1/2 cup of my coffee, so I’ll browse till it’s gone. But, I have lots to get done this morning before Class. I hope that everyone enjoys a good day.

February 18, 2020 at 8:42 am #948828Am off to the Village for the morning, then must clear a bit more as my cleaner is coming this afternoon. A couple of inches of snow out there, very pretty, but we have to drive through it.
Lovely photos Char! I’m surprised that there is that much ice given all the thaws we have had
Hi Uschi, have a nice lunch
Hugs JJ
I hope this one is not so destructive Doug, it’s been a bad time over there.
Hi Ellen!
Greetings to all to come! :grouphug:
Cheers, Lynn

Some beautiful photos, nature’s art:thumbsup: I am so glad you and Ted had a nice outing!!
Well, friend Lynn is missing out on her freeby lunch because she has a sore throat and is not feeling well and is staying home.
Ellen, yes the weather has been weirder than weird, not at all our usual winter, makes me wonder how it will translate into summer.
Hi Lynn!!

February 18, 2020 at 11:35 am #948827Good day all,
It’s windy and Ms. Feral is hiding under the deck. I fed her at 5:OO am when I took my break from sleeping 3 1/2 hours. Went back later for another 3 1/2.
Have projects to work on and a quick trip to town.

February 18, 2020 at 12:16 pm #948830Hi all,
Trying not to be upset. My cookware was supposed to arrive today. While making the cats breakfast, checked my iPad. Package delivered. I go downstairs. Nothing there. Trying to contact FedEx got the robot chat. Finally found the phone number and called. They will contact the driver, blah, blah, blah. If it hasn’t turned up in two days call Kohl’s. I am fit to be tied. I will not order from Kohl’s again unless I absolutely have to and have it delivered to the store. I hate FedEx. The problem is you don’t know who they are going to use as a shipper until the package is actually shipped.
It’s Mercury retrograde. I shall blame it on that. I sure hope I get my books soon. Ordered copies of Ibsen’s plays for my class. Would hate to have them turn up after the class is over.
On that note, class was fabulous last night. Austin was back. His insights are sooooo helpful. I didn’t perform, but just listening to his critiques of others gave me insights to help on my scene.
Char fabulous photos. So nice to go for a long leisurely drive.
Regarding dehydration. I once read an article that said the first thing you should do in the morning is drink a glass of water. Before anything else. I took that advice, and I think I’ve been doing it for thirty or forty years now. I drink 12 to 16ozs of water first thing.
I have had to cut back to half caff in the morning because of the Excedrin I was taking for migraines. Two tablets has 65mgs.
Uschi so sorry you didn’t get out for lunch, but better you didn’t catch whatever Lynn has.
Oh Bill, poor Ms. Feral.
Lynn enjoy your day at the village.
Saw the flooding in England.
I’m concerned about Steve. I was watching the news on the flooding in the midwest and Memphis was on the watch list.
Betty —- Pat usually posts on FB. She seems to be doing okay.
((((JJ and Alan)))) get well soon. I would look into a clean up crew. Will your homeowners insurance cover that?

February 18, 2020 at 12:52 pm #948831Good afternoon. I have been absorbed with the FB sites and doing laundry. The exciting life! Weather has gone back to cold, grey and rainy. I will be making a double batch of spaghetti sauce today. So, we will have a few extra meals leftover.
John had a doctor’s appointment, so I am roaming around the house by myself right now.
Have a great day!

February 18, 2020 at 3:14 pm #948832Good afternoon.Nice day here. Chris is off and doing spring cleaning. Soi have been hiding under the bed before she has me cleaning too. LOL.
Seriously though, she was cleaning and organizing the pantry. I can never fins anything in there anyway and now it has all been moved around. I’ll probably starve to death.
Sorry about all the flooding and ice some of you are experiencing.
Mom Is doing great. I am too but I have been on a reading binge so things have been kind of slow around here.
Thanks for the kind words JJ.
Stay safe everyone.

Living the retired life in NE FloridaFebruary 18, 2020 at 5:32 pm #948829Hi everyone – beautiful sunny, cold (for us) day. Marshall, glad your Mom is doing great.
Kay, thanks for the Pat update – she used to be such a regular Washer.
I used to be able to drink coffee anytime – now I’m limited to 2 per day, with an occasional 3rd. I started getting palpatations and had to cut back.
I’ve been enjoying watching the Hearts Curling – so many really good teams. BC is doing well for it being their first time. The younger curlers are very impressive.
June, I’m glad your dr makes house calls – hope you feel better soon. Spring is coming!
Betty
