Dry brush oil
Another thread on here showing a black and white oil sketch has prompted me to dig out an experimental piece I did severel years ago using a dry brush technique. Essentially you make a thick pad of absorbent paper (kitchen roll) and use this to scrub your brush with oil paint on into the pad to absorb as much of the oil as possible and use the now dry pigment left on the brush to paint with onto white paper.
It’s a technique apparently popular with some Russian artists. I enjoyed the exercise but wouldn’t want to make a career out of it! I’d be interested in your comments.
