Anubis- Arbiter of the Afterlife

For those not in the know in Ancient Egypt it was the duty of Anubis, the jackal headed God to weigh up the souls of the dead in the afterlife. If you had lived a good life you passed through without incident. If not a big b****y monster devoured your soul. I did this piece with Zig markers on Watercolour paper. Anubis and the Beast turned out alright but the poor soul being judged looks a bit iffy. My style is intentionally cartoony (Though I still do realistic work to refine my skills) but I still think he looks a bit flimsy. C and C's are welcome!

While I had no idea what to expect when I opened this thread, this was totally unexpected lol. A really fun style and a different take on Egyptian mythology.

Is it just my imagination, or does Anubis look like a lawyer? Well done

This is SUPER! I had expected something "traditional". Nice Surprise.

What a fun and interesting take on this!
I love your bright colors and the scale is great, one side would be the heart and the other a feather and if you were a good person your heat would weigh less than a feather.
I think you hit all the important points on this in a very cool way!
I'm glad you posted it here.

Cheers. I was aiming for a stuffy British butler but now that you mention it a lawyer's a perfect analogy. This picture was mostly inspired by the sort of absurdist humour you get in Alice in Wonderland or Monty Python, adding a streak of the mundane to the fantastic and reacting to the ridicukous with a stiff upper lip. Thanks for all the feedback, I really appreciate it guys.
