How do you pronounce "pyrrole"?

I've heard both pie'-roll and pie-roll'-y. Is there a correct way?

Re: How do you pronounce "pyrrole"?

PIRR oll

(PIRR pronounced like the PYR in "pyramid")

I've heard PIE roll too, and probably need a chemist for the definitive answer (if any).

(But I'm going to practice pih RROLL ay with rolled RR's and an accompanying handwave now that you've put that idea in my head. Prolly gonna need a beret to really sell it.)

... clever!

I cut and paste pyrolle into google translate, selected English as the source language, clicked the little speaker icon. It is as you say, though that voice is so robotic.

The fun is changing the source language. First French, so elegant. Then Icelandic, now there's a rich option, hits all the syllables!

Re: How do you pronounce "pyrrole"?

According to the online OED, which shows it using linguistic notation, use pier-role without excess r and without a pronounced e. The two syllables have about the same stress, but the first will sound stressed because of the vowels used.
