Hi everyone. I’m sharing this scratchboard that I just finished up. Using my own reference photo from one of our steers, I couldn’t resist drawing this dramatic guy with his bright white markings and no-nonsense expression.
The fine hairs and fur direction has had me studying and puzzling all along the way. A couple of times, I even studied our live steers to see just how the fur lies on their shoulders, on the necks, and so on. This was a fun piece to do, and I think I learned along the way.
I shared this as a WIP over in the Southwestern/Western Art Forum, and you can see the progression of this piece through this link: https://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1471377
This measures 6×12 inches. It’s done entirely with a #11 X-Acto blade.
C&C welcome. Thank you for looking. I hope you like this.
Some close-ups.
