Hello and Happy April, my friends! Any April Fool’s pranks going on? I have a feeling with so many stuck at home, the pranks are going to be pretty elaborate this year!

    (From March’s thread)

Hi Jo. That glassine stuff is wonderful, isn’t it? I sometimes use it to ship drawings. And thank you – it’s in the 50s fairly often, and the grass is beginning to green. So thankful for such great weather! I’m happy you’re enjoying some too. Take care of yourselves. I sure hope Larry can find work. Oh, and yes, I’ve re-signed up for your newsletter too. :)

Hi Kay. What a wonderful rose! So beautiful and delicate. I hope everyone stays healthy in your area. We’re doing ok in that regard around here, too, so far. I love what you said. Indeed, paint something superb. :D Sorry to hear you don’t care for cooking. That makes it much more of a chore for sure. Maybe it’s time to try the easy-peasy Sprite Biscuits? :wink2:

Hello to everyone near and far! I hope you all continue to enjoy good health and don’t run out of creative energy. We’ll make it. :grouphug: Oh, and if you’re looking for some inspiration, I’m about to get the April Monthly Challenge up and running. Let’s paint and draw, shall we? Good for the soul, good for the heart, and a blessed distraction. Take care, my friends.

        Happy April 1st everyone.
We’re back to snow and -16 this morning. Brrr. I’m ready for winter to be done.

Love that rose Kay! It is magnificent.

Jenna, the biscuits sound delicious. I’ve been baking as well (chocolate cake and sourdough bread), all of which my son hoovered up yesterday. Need to make bread again today!

        Stay healthy everyone.

Hi Evelyn. Brrrr! That sounds like misery! Would some hot chocolate help a bit? Sounds like we should hit the 50s today. I hope your weather turns mild and spring-like soon. Those biscuits are pretty irresistible. Your baking sounds great too! This is a good time to make those recipes we always mean to, isn’t it? :)

Hi Jenna and Evelyn, happy April! If we can make it thru this month…no April Fool’s happening that I know of except on my soap, Days of Our Lives.

That is TOO cold, Evelyn, and I don’t know how you stand it.

Off to check on the new challenge. Have a good day all. Cloudy here but in the 70s range.

Hi Jenna, thanks for starting up the fire. I made peanut butter cookies with pecans for everyone. And I made it here at midnight instead of a week late like usual. We forgot it was April Fools until tonight. I’m surprised none of our family mentioned it. Thanks, too for the recipe.

        Hi, everybody else!

Ay…Evelyn. You are still so cold. We got up to 80 today.

It is supposed to rain for a week so we went to the grocery store. So different, they wipe down the carts and put sanitizer on your hands. Tell you to keep the distance and try not to handle anything you aren’t going to buy. I like that they line up everyone and send you to the next available cashier. You don’t get stuck behind people with problems. It was faster than normal, I think. Actually they ask that only one person go in the store, so Gene went for gasoline and to the hardware store. We stopped at a favorite local restaurant for take out. Got burgers for lunch and some of their crawfish chowder for tomorrow. We should be good for a couple of weeks now unless we need milk and fresh veggies. Our store was pretty well stocked except for paper products and flour?? Guess more folks are cooking. HEB is our Texas grocery and they are amazing. So much help for the community. They always give so much and are prepared for hurricanes and such. They didn’t expect this but are quickly catching up.

Anyway, hope all y’all are safe and doing well. When I get the chowder warmed up tomorrow I’ll save you some. It is soooo good.

Us, too, I think the 80s and already warm out there early as both cats went out and they are my barometer so to speak.

Abilene art club is still having their show, refused to cancel, and I am to judge it so will head out to the interstate 20 in about an hour. Let’s see if I get there or not.

Still NO paper products and little canned items in HEB grocery.

Jo, it sounds like you made it to NM. Stay safe.

Kay, Mislead you, we are still in Texas. Hope to travel to Kentucky this summer, we shall see. Some friends were evacuated from Arizona back to Oregon because of rock slides. ?? Weird. Anyway they had two weird nights in hotels. Both only had about 3 couples as guests and one had breakfast where you eat one at a time, the other didn’t bother.

We are still good. Sketched a bit but not SW.

        Group hugs all around.

            HELLO EVERYONE!!!
I haven’t really been on WC! for a few months. Think I made a post of a landscape painting I did a month ago. I’ve just been laying low (long before it was expected of us to do it… lol)

Not a whole lot happening in my world & now that the Covid-19 has hit the world, I’m still doing the same as I have been. The only thing that’s changed is the fact I can’t see my grandbabies (ages 8, 6, 5 & 2.5), but we do Facetime a couple times a week. I do more artwork now.

Winter just won’t leave. Right now it’s -13C/9F with a 36km/22.5mph wind chill. I still need my winter farm jacket on to feed the horses. It’s warmer than 40 below, but still not warm enough.

I’m still working. I have one of those essential jobs, I work in a bakery in a large grocery store.

Thought I would share this with you all. The sunset dog is done (although it isn’t in this shot) It goes to one of my neighbours for his birthday on the 10th. The horse portrait is for another friend. Both are done in pastels. (pans & softs)

Stay awesome friends! Stay home. Stay safe.

Sheila – I am so glad I happened upon your post. That sunset dog is wonderful! The COI of the sunset and the dog’s head is just perfect. If I painted anything half that nice, I would be thrilled.

Well thank you so much Joy! I’m really happy how it turned out too, because landscape painting is not my thing. I watched countless videos on how to paint the sky, clouds, grass, trees & sunsets. Obviously I learned something & I’m quite happy with it, but far from a master at it.

Sheila, so great to see you!! Hugs. Your paintings are really good. Love both of them. Didn’t know you were a pastelaholic. The landscape was well worth your effort and the background on the horse is exciting without overpowering the portrait. I’m smiling.

All well here in Bastrop. Cool and rainy, at least it is supposed to be but so far raining all around us and not here.

NO RAIN here in Florida – as matter of we are under a WILDFIRE WATCH!!!!! We have a short fall of over 4 inches of rain! If a fire starts heading our way we may have to jump in the pond behind our house — ONE BIG PROBLEM – THERE ARE ALLIGATORS IN IT!!!!
You ask why do we live here? I ask myself that question every day :>]]

                            Richard,
Well we woke up to snow (again) and -11 so any alligators would be scuttling to warmer climates post haste. It is unseasonably cold but this too shall pass, someday, maybe. Sigh.
Anyway, I made bread yesterday – enjoy!

So nice to see you Sheila and your works of art, too, just fabulous! Stay warm!
Evelyn, those loaves of bread are so inviting, now with fresh butter I would eat both of them.

North winds today, in the 40s-50s range after yesterday’s 92F. Go figure.

I did make it to Abilene and got their show judged, a very small show, only one woman there to let me in. After driving 4 hours total went to bed and dropped off to sleep at 11 p.m. only to be awakened shortly with the smoke alarm going off, needing its battery changed. Only 1 battery left so I crawled up a 14 foot ladder to put new one in to find out it was worthless. So all night long the beeping continued. Hubby slept thru it all.

Have a good weekend. Not expecting much warmer temp tomorrow.

                            Kay
