It looks weird because we are not used to seeing it... but art needs to have what you feel in it, otherwise what's the point?
From a design perspective, you have two strong points of focus with no apparent link between them. Generally on one small canvas, it may be preferable to have one strong story and the rest as supporting actors. If your two points of focus are actually only one focal point, then some supporting actors are missing.
Storytelling has 2 parts:
1. You knowing what you want to say
2. Audience knowing what you want to say
Personally, I think the hunters about to chase the tired buffalo for its skin are absent from the picture.... sad but true, so I don't want to say it............... oops
