Eggs

This is 8"x10" gouache on 140# paper.
I went a little larger on this one to see how it feels.
Blending was a little difficult for me on this one.
More practice I guess.
C&C welcome

Re: Eggs

Again, your painting skills shine thru and blending does take practice.

It seems to me that different subjects require different methods but one method that works most often for me is to lay the colors next to one another then gently blend with a damp brush.

I wish there was an easy solution that you could use to magically blend anything but if there is, I haven't found it yet. Again, it just takes practice. I'll look and see if I can find any paintings I've done where I've done blending.

Re: Eggs

This is lovely Perry - I love the glass!

I haven't even tried my gouache yet, other than to dab some on paper to see what the colors look like!

Re: Eggs

I think that this is really good. I like the red/green color complements. I also like the transparency of the glass compared to opaqueness of the other objects.

The viewer’s eye can often blend and smooth if the value gradations are small. Mine did in this case. It is your decision on how you want your painting to look but this worked for me. Gary

Re: Eggs

I like your style and color choices in this picture. The blending worked out fine for sure.

Re: Eggs

Wonderful. I really love the see through small glass. It has actually made me want to paint something similar. Your example is rendered beautifully. I am still very new to gouache, so i enjoy seeing others works. The idea of painting something so transparent -the glass- with such an opaque medium, seems so fun to me, and it is something I haven’t attempted to do yet, so thank you for the inspiration.
