Foal #1 2019
Rembrandt pastels. Daler Rowney pastel paper. 12″x15″I was trying to capture the expression (curiosity, boldness).
Is she done? Thoughts, C&C welcome.Evelyn

September 1, 2019 at 12:39 pm #873395Hi Evelyn, and welcome! I love the softness of your pastel portrait. She does look curious and smart! My only suggestion would be that since the eyes and the halter had such crisp edges and deep contrast, maybe a little more texture in the rest of this would be a nice finishing touch. Maybe a little more detail in her mane, her ears, the contours of her muscles, etc. Feel free to disregard this if you’re happy with this as is – it is only my thoughts. Excellent work, and I hope you’ll share more of your work with us!

Watercolour & Soft Pastel, Western CanadaSeptember 3, 2019 at 3:42 pm #873396Evelyn, this is just beautiful! I agree with Jenna totally, in that if you felt it was missing something, just sharpen some of the edges to add a little detail and contrast. But it’s fine just the way it is as well, it is soft and beautiful. The look you were seeking – curiosity, boldness, you captured. Very well done!!
