Welcome to the pastel forum, Mary! I see that you are just starting your pastel journey. What a cutey. I'm sorry to hear about the accident, but relieved that all is well now. By incorporating the green in the eyes into the background, you have tied things together quite nicely.

I am going to make a few for your consideration for the future. First of all, white is not white. Don't be afraid to stroke in some more light valued colors when painting white. I see hints, but you can go further when comfortable. Also, don't be "afraid of the darks", as someone once said. When in the art store next time, look for some very dark valued pastels sticks to keep handy.
I also remind you that suggestions are just that...suggestions. Always consider whether or not you wish to follow one before changing a thing. It is your work, and is fine as is. I hope you will be an active member now. This is a great group of supportive artists.
