Re: * Eclectic Cafe * (art and non-art chat or share non ab/con work)

Question for all of you...

For two different types of painting that I do - I like to use a dry mop for blending out the brush strokes. I have tried a variety of mops - from the cheap to the just under $20 - yes still fairly cheap.

I use acrylic paint.

All of these are frustrating in that... They wind up shedding off hairs (despite how little or how much I have used them) - I then have to pick out these hairs and try to blend out the spots where I had to pick them out.

Can anyone recommend any high quality mop brushes that would work well for this type of dry blending, that will not shed hairs so often? I don't mind spending more money as long as I get the quality I am looking for. I just cannot afford to spend a lot of money on trial and error when it comes to more expensive brushes. Type of brush as well as maker would help.

Thanks!!

This avatar, that I'm trying to use, has no respect and ruins my intent to upload her without her nasty facial problems.

Anthony, I'm not sure whether you avatar has facial ticks or is doing facial calisthenics?

Have you tried a dry soft sponge for blending..the type you buy in supermarkets for washing dishes, they are super soft, in the shape of a figure 8 and can work quite well sometimes..maybe worth a try.

Jon, I've often thought of playing with the Wing Dings among the font selections. Great one you've made! I see that it's all typed in sequence, too, and not made in an image program (where you can place what you want where you want). That took some time and thought!

And Merry Christmas to you, too!

Yes, that looks like it took some time and patience to do JON. Very creative and turned out great and perhaps ...fun to do (or get done with)? Merry Christmas to you and everyone else!

Hmm.. Might be worth a try.. Though I would want to avoid the texture that usually occurs when I do sponge blending. Might give it a go, though, thanks!

I actually may have found the brush I need as well. Seems to be working so far anyway.

Kate, I can feel some of that lovely Australian warmth in your painting. Wish it were here! And a wonderful one to you, too.
