Pen and watercolor
I did these a few months ago (I've been on hiatus from wetcanvas so I'm trying to remember if I've posted these before - I'm pretty sure I didn't).
Basically I took watercolors that never really got off the ground - or did get off the ground, only to crash and burn - and drew over them.
I tend to flit from one technique to another, but I like these enough that i'm hoping to do some more. Criticism and commentary welcome.

Re: Pen and watercolor
I like these, somehow it makes me think of the 60's-70's kind of thing.
Keep going.
I like where you very the size of the shapes-leaving some empty-some filled in with line work. The middle one has varies size- large/small shapes-I think it would be interesting to do a combination of the top one and the middle.
Post more.
Thanks for sharing,
Pamela

Re: Pen and watercolor
These are really cool!!!! Do you start out with a plan, or do you just "doodle" away until you have filled in the space and are happy with your design?

Re: Pen and watercolor
Not really much of a plan, no. For the middle one, I just followed the lines of the paint itself. You can see that on the top I started to do that, from the left - and then started to draw a figure similar to the one on the bottom, and then changed to the "net" of squiggly lines to fill in with different patterns.
I did several other figures like the one on the bottom at one point - What I dislike about that one is all the yellow - I think the yellow is what's responsible for the strong 60s vibe Anyway, for that one I started by drawing the figure and then just filled the space around it with whatever came to mind.
Thanks for all the comments!

Re: Pen and watercolor
more of the same - I did this Saturday. This makes me foolishly happy I think of looking down on boats in the water but my roommate saw trees, and that made sense too.

I like these too...it is a great way to save watercolours that you haven't gone on with (and we all have these) The last one reminds me of salmon swimming upstream.
I like the second one best , but maybe it needs a bit more work....maybe more of the same but with more line variation plus some pattern (just a thought)

Re: Pen and watercolor
I'm very taken with all of these. Despite the level of detail, these seem quiet to me. Vibrant yet easy to be with. What a beautiful treat!

Re: Pen and watercolor
Very imaginative. And I can see what Pine Cone means about the serenity, quietness. The 3rd and 4th ones call to me in particular. The first has such clear focus - the face. The last has balance that works. But actually the more I look at the second one, the more I read in a landscape. very attractive.
