Your are very good! I saw your pastel work on your website. Very impressive.
Its interesting how you paint or draw the same image over and over in different sizes. You are not the only one Ive seen doing that.
What is the purpose, am I not doing a technique that maybe I should be doing?

Hi Tylor- I appreciate your kind words about the work! Pastel is a terrific medium, and recently I've been working mostly in Oil- I like the similarities and differences.

I often develop paintings first at a smaller scale, then again larger with improvements and changes, large and small. The idea is to use those opportunities to refine each aspect and gain a better understanding of everything. In this one, the nebulous background is becoming real, but that is based first on the design, not on preconceptions.

i might have to give it a try. Im assuming that also allows you to be more free with you painting, because you know you are just going to do it again. I tent to work up the same painting, layer after layer, covering and whipping until i get a result i like, then call it done. I also work from my own photographs. This method you are doing allows you to put yourself in the painting more. I can see that from each iteration. Its feels more organic than my work.

Re: Green Apples- Progress- Oil

Tylor- Not sure if it does allow for more freedom, and I don't think of it as just doing it again. It is more that I've focused the results in a more specific place, and all work is done to take it all to a better level.

I've made some digital modifications to make the background more convincing and real-
