'A Last Goodbye' - Tiger FINISHED

Hey everyone!

With an attempt to try and pull myself out of this artistic slump I went back to scratching my favourite animal which of course is a tiger. If I am being honest this is going to be my 5th tiger that I will have scratched and I really want to do it well this time. I have never been happy with any of my scratchboard tigers. I feel as if I have plateued and won't improve, I really hate that feeling. With all the brilliant tigers I am seeing in this forum I thought that I would add another.

I am showing the whole board and most of it is in the rough stages and I have got loads more to go. It is 18x12

All C and Cs are welcome!

I hope you like it.

Looking great already Irfan. Lovely intense stare coming on. Now keep going and make sure you finish it. Then I would like to see the eagle finished. I know - "stop nagging"

I've got a really good feeling about this Irfan. I'm only on my iPad but from what I can see of the pose, it looks like it's going to be a stunner!!

I really like this pose, it's different. I checked your website and the tiger in the shadows- Alone- is absolutely stunning. I love the shadows of the trees across the path in the background, Tina

I don't know why you weren't happy with the others; they have all been very nice and this one is already started nicely. I'd be happy with any of them. You always come up with great poses and the scratching is superb.

Re: 'A Last Goodbye' - Tiger WIP

Thanks for all the great comments everyone! Wow, I can't believe I started this back in August!

I have finally gotten round to doing some more work on this as I am off univeristy for a few weeks before the second term begins. I was initially working on the eagle so have a small update for that but again the feathers drove me mad so I took another break.

I feel out of my slump and hope to get this finished soon.

I am still working away at the background and the tigers face is still not finished. Hopefully once I get an airbrush, backgrounds will be a whole lot easier.

I hope to add some snow flakes into the mix as well towards the end.

I think the hardest part is going to be depicting the ice cold breath, I have no idea as to how I am going to do that since I will be making that part up so will need to do some research.

As always all C and Cs are welcome!

Thanks for looking!

Re: 'A Last Goodbye' - Tiger WIP

Welcome back Irfan. Lovely to see you resurrect this tiger. I am sure it will be as stunning as your previous ones. Must be hard to juggle your studies and try and do some art as well. Little steps.

Re: 'A Last Goodbye' - Tiger WIP

Irfan, this is coming along very nicely. I love the pose and the composition.

As far as the breath, you might want to look into using steel wool (but use one made especially for scratchboard). Regular steel wool has oils in it that would ruin your board. And definitely test it on a scrap piece until you get the hang of it. I think this is a good way to go. I'm sure there will be other suggestions.

Can't wait to see the progress!
