Re: artwork photo stuff

Just finished reading this so far and wanted to say a big Thanks! Lots of great suggestions, in particular for me, using the east light, hanging the work vertically (I had been laying it down and standing over it, careful not to make a shadow!), using the landscape format.

Something I learned a while back that might be of interest. You get less distortion (the barrel effect on the edges) if you stand farther back and use the zoom rather than taking photos close up. Good to know when photographing people as well. You don't have to stand a mile away, but every little bit helps.

Re: artwork photo stuff

Saw this design recently and made a home version for less than 6.00 USD.

....and it works well.

I think it would be great for 3D work especially jewelry and such. Best part, larger items, bigger cardboard box. This is a 14X14X14" box and it seems to be working quite well overall.

This is a photo done in this unit with 3 exterior lights. All flourescent and in reflectors. I am actually quite pleased with the results.

Re: artwork photo stuff

I spent years saving for a good camera for my art and I took pictures of 6 paintings and my husband played with it and left it outside. it will be years before I can afford another camera. I can only sell what fits in the scanner.
