Help me fix this please

Trying to remove stems on flowers. I used alcohol and now it’s dirty looking?
Is there a way to fix this?

Re: Help me fix this please

I'd say your only option is to repaint that background color over the affected area.
Make sure all the alcohol is gone before you repaint....if the dark spots are still gummy, try to lift them off with paper towel. if they are dry, I'd paint any dark spots with white first, before you do the back ground color.
I'd avoid using alcohol, as it won't only soften the top layer, but will affect all the paint in that area.

What would you have used instead of alcohol?

Alcohol will evaporate. Just let it dry fully before you apply paint

Not sure what surface you are painting on, but if it's canvas or even canvas paper, painting over the area without applying alcohol should work. I've tried the paint erasers but not with a lot of success. With acrylic, I've not had an issue in painting over an area -- which I do frequently

One possible problem with alcohol - it can also dissolve the acrylic gesso on your canvas or panel, so use it carefully. You can use it to remove thick paint strokes so they won't show through your next layer, but stop before the gesso starts coming off as well.

Work is seldom lost with Acrylics, you can paint over just about anything!
If necessary, use white or gesso fist ... some use goo for mixing too, instead of white.
If paint is too think sometimes, try sanding it down with fine sandpaper.

Re: Help me fix this please

I just repaint over top, or if the rest is dry and the bad area was freshly painted- I have rinsed off damp or tacky paint before , then fix it by repainting..
I never try to clean acrylic paint off with anything but water , or warm water & scrubbing (if canvas or solid surface)

After your alcohol area dies fully.. you can use what you have so far as an under painting, and then go over top with layers and make any adjustments with those layers..
I found the more layers used will seal and smooth the surface and you will get much nicer effects & blending..
