Hi Rod:
I like the solidity of the form - both in how you laid it out compositionally and how it's been rendered - you can almost feel the weight and heft of the object. But I'm not so sure about the stiches/staples? Stiches make me think of flesh/fabric closures and that doesn't meld with the "concreteness" of this vise. Maybe if it had weld marks instead? Or maybe I missed the point?

Re: Vise #6...ugh

tania...like many of my works..there isn't a "POINT" LOL...welds..why didn't i think of that? where were you when i needed you?...i'll have to kick around that idea..the reason i wanted to break up the squared off thing was..i thought it was just TOO angular..and needed a surprise...something out of place..but, i do wish i had played wiuth the weld idea..i could have still broken up the bigger flatter area's and it would have been a neat texture to exploit...thanks for your wise input...did the people that were wanting the dog portrait contact you yet?...

I like the stitches. It looks like Frankenstein's vise.

Obviously, I did miss the point you never intended to make ;-)
If you're looking to mesh inorganic/organic, what about a vine of some sort? Like an abandonded piece of industrial equipment that the jungle has re-claimed? Or am I off in left-field all alone?

Re: Vise #6...ugh

Good luck in Arizona! I did a scratchboard workshop at my daughter's school last year - I enjoyed it more than the adult workshops I've done - kids don't have the same hang-ups about seeing/looking that adults do, they're more willing to suspend disbelief and believe you know what you're doing :-)

And if we don't hear from you either we'll send help.
