        Hello,

Does anyone know which 120 set posses the most lightfastness colored pencils? Is it Faber Castell Polychromos or Caran De Ache Pablos?
        Schreiben Sie mal wieder!

        Thanks!

Lightfastness is not that simple. Each pencil color will have a specific rating.
You might have a logner life red on one but a shorter green.. etc… and taht does come with a cost! not simply monetary, but by choice. For example prismacolro does have more colors than any other brand, but because they allow themselves to use worse level of lightfastness pigments.

Luminance are the most focused in durability, but their color choices are much smaller because of that.

"no no! You are doing it all wrong, in the internet we are supposed to be stubborn, inflexible and arrogant. One cannot simply be suddenly reasonable and reflexive in the internet, that breaks years of internet tradition as a medium of anger, arrogance, bigotry and self entitlement. Damm these internet newcomers being nice to to others!!!"

As far as I remember from my own 1990s tests, any Pablo and Polychromos with three star rating is lightfast in normal indoors lighting.

Pablo colour charts with ratings are notoriously hard to find; these are cropped screen grabs of a PDF pamphlet – oh dear, I didn’t remember that there are so many colours with only two stars!

This is a 2012 chart of Polychromos – pencils in the second vertical row and pastels (now in only 60 colours) in the third:

Polychromos range includes more *** colours and it seems to be almost everyone’s favourite. But like tiago said, no brand is completely and absolutely lightfast.
