2.5×3.5 ink/watercolor done today getting ready for tomorrow’s annual National Draw a Bird Day; I’ll do a flamingo then. Sketched with Lictin 0.3 black ink pen on an ACEO size cut out magazine card, only a few colors were used. I see these mountain bluebirds when in New Mexico and their color is an electric turquoise blue. This was fun to do. Actual size is posted below for comparison.

    C&C welcome

    That’s a cool day! I’ll have to draw a bird too. :)

What a beautiful bluebird. I saw one today while walking my dogs, I was so happy to see it.

The leaves look like his bird Caesars crown.

What a beautiful little bird. I enjoy painting birds, too, and I’m going to be painting a series of kingfishers in miniature soon. Kingfishers are so colorful and I just love seeing all the different varieties and colors.

How did you get involved in painting on the pages of books, Kay? I’ve seen your work around WC and it’s really interesting. Do you ever slant your scenes toward the wording on the pages or the subject of the book?

                Thanks Ellen!
I used a magazine card then a page from a discarded book when I had no sketchbook available (riding in a car on a long trip). Sometimes I do utilize the text to fit the subject of the art but not the subject of the book.

Kay, very nice bird. I like the color and the Birds expression.
I’m going to go over to watermedia to view the post.
