"Trail's End"

24x30 oil on stretched canvas. This concept was in my mind for months after seeing Howard Terpning's "The Last Buffalo", and I finally took it on. My skill level with strong brush stokes is a WIP, but it's a fun journey Not too unhappy with most of it.

c&c welcome

24 x 30 is big (at least to a watercolorist anyway ); that must be a show-stopper in person. Wonderful work, Larry! Love the bold colors.

Wow Larry, that is a big size. This painting has a very solemn mood, which is certainly fitting for this particular subject. There's a sadness in this piece that makes it work very well. Great job!

Re: "Trail's End"

This piece tells a story and creates a mood - not an easy combination to pull off. Well done!

Great expression in the Buffalo's face, stunning. Nice brushwork in the grass, 3D effect. Aleada

Its really a grand piece I love how it recedes, palette, and how it tells a story.. Sad but its life and you did it graceful. Well done Larry.

Re: "Trail's End"

I'm late at seeing this painting but didn't want to pass it up. Very well done and the kind of painting I like, one with a story that keeps the viewer entranced with the scene so they hover and take in all the nuances. So glad you took on the challenge and shared it!
