        The reference photo said this was a young sparrow, but I’m not convinced.

                    sweet… I like very much bristol board and graphite… is a very good match…
                    I think you need more layering for the result you are expecting… look at Ken’s techniques in drawing and sketching forum… he gives great advice how to build depth in graphite.

                    A cracking pencil drawing with quite a lot of detail work. It’s difficult to say if it’s a young ‘un’ or not as I can’t see if there is the typical yellow gap on the beak. But the female house sparrows do have a white eye stripe so it could be an adult female. Paul :-)
