Re: QDC -The Quick Dry Café - The Place to Chat

I keep my decorations up until about Jan.8. After all that work I want to enjoy it for a long time.

lol Shelia, Cabbage Patch kids? Either they made a come back or you're showing your age.

Tinsel?....it’s been years since I heard of ‘tinsel!’....it used to be lead stands and you placed each stand on the tree branch...beautiful when done but...the good old days....lol!...

Re: QDC -The Quick Dry Café - The Place to Chat

We have a Christmas tree up in the house all year round. It is my Grandmother's little tinsel tree that resides in Craig's office. He stole it off me and refuses to take it down. We can be festive at the drop of a hat.

As for the real tree, usually we put it up Thanksgiving weekend but I am not in the mood this weekend. It is a huge deal taking hours to decorate. Maybe next weekend.

Re: QDC -The Quick Dry Café - The Place to Chat

Was not able to celebrate thanksgiving this year. Had oral surgery the Tuesday before turkey day. Still healing. On a six month journey for dental health.

Making mission cakes today. A winter tradition.

Trying to learn how to make Aussie meat pies or English meat pies. Was able to locate English meat pie pans. Looking forward to trying them. The crust has me a bit concerned but will give it a whirl.

Aussie meat pies are pretty easy. Don’t sweat the pastry. It is nothing special. Go for it Howard. I know you will nail it.

I stopped using tinsel long time ago. Not good for pets, and annoying when it tries to follow you every time you walk past the tree.

Mmm, anything in pastry sounds good to me.

I so clearly remember my first Christmas in my first apartment with my first cat, Frosted Flake! Flakey had tinsel streamers coming out of his bum all season long! I thought he was such a good cat to not climb the tree and I remained clueless regarding where the streamers came from.
