I've posted this portrait of my niece, Lilli, in the pastel forum, but didn't crop it quite as hard as I've done here. I think the tighter framing speaks more of my style of portraiture and also feels more contemporary whereas the traditional pose she originally was drawn in felt less exciting to me. Now, I'm pleased with the results. It's my first portrait in 3 years and it felt great doing it! Image size is 15 x 13 inches (down from the original full sheet size of about 24 x 20 inches) done on Ingres toned pastel paper using conte' crayons black, white, sanguine and a cool red Nupasel.
