This is a 12x12" I painted over the last few days. Really did it to warm up the creative brain again as I've been waylaid with health issues and haven't painted in about three weeks. My right knee is swollen I guess from standing too much while painting, and I have "painters elbow" (the artist version of tennis elbow). The elbow is a little better but looks like for both I have physical therapy and orthopedic visits in my future $%@#!!
This is from a photo reference I took while in Apalachicola, FL a few years back. I was standing on the docks about 6:30 -7:00 pm in May when this boat was headed for the gulf for a night of shrimping. I knew I would paint it and so decided to do it. I don't know why I like shrimp boats so much, maybe it's because they're so associated with coastal Florida (though they're in a lot of other coastal places), or because for a profession that's so hard and gritty, they have a certain elegance about them. In any event, I like painting them.
"Heading Out" 12 x 12" oil on linen.
Thanks for looking. C&C welcomed.
